Bradley Cooper Goes Trick-or-Treating Dressed as Rocket Raccoon

Guardians of the Galaxy franchise star Bradley Cooper spent Halloween dressed as his on-screen character Rocket Raccoon.

Per Just Jared, Cooper was spotted alongside his ex Irina Shayk trick-or-treating with their daughter on the streets of New York City. The actor donned a life-sized costume of his iconic Guardians character down to his uniform and a large Raccoon mask. Meanwhile, Shayk wore an identical Rocket costume with the one difference being a black trench coat over the uniform.

Bradley Cooper’s history as the voice of Rocket Raccoon

Cooper originated the voiceover role of Rocket Raccoon in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. Best known for The Hangover trilogy and critically acclaimed hits such as Silver Linings Playbook and American Hustle, Cooper was drawn to providing Rocket’s voice after meeting director James Gunn.

“Well, I like James a lot and it really was about him and then talking to him about the guy,” Cooper said. “I wasn’t familiar with the comic at all and then I really loved it, and I love that character. He’s incredible that character. You know, one thing we debated was he’s seen as a cockney accent sometimes. So we talked about whether we’d do that or do this sort of other guy from the city a little bit.”

As the furry mercenary and most vocal member of the Guardians, Rocket made subsequent Marvel Cinematic Universe appearances in 2017’s Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, 2018’s Avengers: Infinity War, 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special on Disney+. Rocket’s most recent appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 explored his tragic origin story and how he evolves into the leader of the new Guardians lineup.

With Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 promoted as the final entry of the MCU trilogy, Cooper told Good Morning America that his attachment to Rocket meant a lot to him in his last appearance on screen.

“Honestly, it was very emotional to play him,” Cooper said. “You really get a chance to understand how he came to be,” Cooper said. “Rocket went through a lot.”

Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 3 is now streaming on Disney+.
