New Video Goes Behind the Scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind

Because of Marvel’s pre-Disney deal with Universal Studios, there won’t be a lot of Marvel attractions at Walt Disney World in Florida. But this weekend, EPCOT finally got a Marvel ride to call its own with the opening of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. And it just so happened to debut exactly five years to the day after Guardians of the Galaxy: Mission Breakout! opened at Disney’s California Adventure. To celebrate their latest ride, Disney Parks has released a new video that takes a behind-the-scenes look at the attraction.

Because director James Gunn and his cast were concurrently filming Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, it made it easier to shoot new footage for this ride at the same time. Within this video, James Gunn directs scenes with his returning performers Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, and Dave Bautista. Gunn’s brother, Sean Gunn, was also on hand to film Rocket’s scenes before being digitally replaced by the anthropomorphic raccoon.

Additionally, the video briefly catches up with Glenn Close and Terry Crews. Close reprised her role as Nova Prime Irani Rael, while Crews portrayed Nova Centurion Tal Marik, the Commander of the Starcharter who is forced to call upon the Guardians for help within the ride’s storyline. Both Close and Crews expressed their excitement about the ride, as did Karen Gillian even though she did not film any scenes as Nebula for the attraction.

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind is now open at EPCOT.
