The Inevitable McFarlane Toys Blackest Night Figures Are Nearly Here

Todd McFarlane’s signature superhero is a resurrected corpse with a gigantic cape, so when he got the rights to DC action figures, everyone figured he would want to do DC’s version of that. Blackest Night, in which major superheroes came back from the dead as Black Lanterns, seemed like a sure thing. Appropriately or not, on a holiday weekend that celebrates resurrection, McFarlane Toys revealed first-look images of three Blackest Night figures. Black Lantern Batman (obviously), Black Lantern Superman (almost as obvious) and Deathstorm, a.k.a. Nekron’s evil incarnation of Firestorm.

DC’s official synopsis for Blackest Night says: “The prophecy of the Blackest Night has come to pass–a mysterious force is raising deceased heroes and villains into an army of undead Black Lanterns! The combined might of the Green Lantern Corps and an armada of living superbeings must now band together in a fight quite literally for their lives.”

McFarlane Toys has not yet announced a pre-order date, but usually the presale begins the following week or two after a reveal. Zombie Batman and Superman were expected, but Firestorm/Deathstorm is a nice surprise. And a custom base for Ghost Rider, for collectors who get into that.
