Harry Potter Breaks Spidey’s Opening Day Record

With Spidey’s top single day and second weekend records having already fallen to “Shrek 2,” ComingSoon.net reports that the third “Harry Potter” also has broken Spidey’s opening day record…

Warner Bros. Pictures’ Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban broke the opening day record set by Spider-Man on May 3, 2002. The third installment in the popular “Harry Potter” franchise pulled in an estimated $41.2 million from 3,855 theaters on Friday, surpassing Spidey’s take of $39.4 million from 3,615 theaters. It is also on its way to beat Spidey’s opening weekend figure of $114.8 million. “Prisoner of Azkaban” carried a production budget of $130 million.

It’ll be interesting to see what Spider-Man 2‘s answer will be! Meanwhile, ‘Jessica’ has an update on the MTV Movie Awards (which are being taped tonight on the Sony lot)…

Hey,everyone! I was watching ET on MTV & they said for next week’s episode they’ll be showing behind the scenes of the MTV Movie Awards & someone working for the awards said to stay tune for the ending of the show because at the ending, the presenters will be doing something with special effects & something involving Tobey Maguire & Kirsten Dunst.

Nice! Also, ‘Spider-UFXN’ has a bit more on the soundtrack…

Hey SHH! and to fellow Spidey Fans out there! I just saw a small clip of the video for ‘Ordinary’ from Train of the Spider-Man 2 Soundtrack on VH1. The short little clip was shown during VH1’s Top 20 Video Countdown as part of their ‘Flavas of The Week’. It still had some footage from the trailers we have already seen but the is one new piece of footage with Peter on the train without his mask on. Keep an eye out for the full video during the mornings on VH1, namely that’s when they have their video spins.

And from across the Atlantic, ‘sinan’ writes…

I don’t know if this has been mentioned previously or not, but there is a new tv commercial related to Spider-Man 2. In turkey, Spider-Man appears in tv commercials of “yedigün” (an orange drink, a former turkish brand but now owned by Pepsi) for a few days. I have also watched it on MTV (europe i think). In the commercial, a boy is drinking a bottle of “yedigün” in the metro. During that time a metro robbery happens. The boy looks at a small Spider-Man poster on the metro wall. Then we see Spider-Man (most of the shots are the ones we saw in trailers), he chases the robber and swings to the camera as hethrows his webs to the robber. Then we come back to metro and saw that the robber has been trapped in an orange web coming out of the boy’s hands.
