11 Characters Marvel Studios Should Consider for a Female-Led Movie

#9 VALKYRIE

Chosen at birth by Odin himself, Brunnhilde trained all her life and began to lead the Valkyrie which she did so for centuries. The Valkyrie’s task was to fly above the battlefields and bring the worthy fallen soldiers to Valhalla while chasing the unworthy to Hel. Valkyrie has been a part of the Marvel U for over 30 years, and throughout her history has slain many a foe and joined forces with the Avengers and Defenders a number of times.

Brunnhilde is a master fighter, like the other Asgardians, and is of course immortal. She wields a variety of weapons, mostly a sword, and rides her flying horse Aragorn into battle. In addition to super strength, speed, healing, etc, the power Brunnhilde possess that makes her unique is her ability to sense death. She can see the “Death glow” surround a person nearing their end, and potentially save them should she so choose.

One place that is ripe for expansion in the MCU is the world of Thor. Though a great deal of it has been shown in both of his solo films, we’ve only seen it through his own and Jane Foster’s eyes. Bringing in a new character with a different point of view on Asgard, its warriors, and its world would be a great way to breath life into the swords and sorcery corner of the MCU. Many might want to see Lady Sif lead a film (which would also rule), but Brunnhilde provides a different side of the Asgardian world, a totally different path rich for exploring.

There’s one group that’s been in development at Marvel Studios for some time. We want to see them show up with her in the lead. Learn who on page 10!
