Superhero Hype’s Best Amazon Movie and DVD Deals for Mar 30

Superhero Hype’s Best Amazon Movie and DVD Deals for Apr 1

Movie theaters may be opening again, but not everyone’s ready to go back. And if the kids are stuck at home, purchases, rather than rentals, start to look better and better for the inevitable repeat viewings. But with so many, it’s hard to know where to begin or what to afford. In this ongoing series, Superhero Hype takes a look at some of the better selections and deals Amazon.com has running as of publication time. Please note that all deals are subject to change or sell out at any time based on supply and demand. These are the deals for Mar 30.

Dune (4K Ultra HD + Blu-ray + Digital)

$29.99

The Oscar-winningest movie of the year can bring House Atreides and House Harkonnen to your house. Get the biggest screen possible, and enjoy all the award-winning technical wizardry and sound that bring the epic to life. That sound you hear in the distance is David Lynch gritting his teeth.

Sucker Punch [Blu-ray]

$11.97

So, you like Snyder Cuts? Now’s a good time to view the extended cut of the director’s only film not made from pre-existing material. It’s like Tank Girl meets The Singing Detective, as women in a punitive institution escape into fantasy worlds where they are the superheroes. Zack Snyder at his most idiosyncratic, for better or worse.

Jurassic World 5-Movie Collection [4K UHD]

$47.99

With the price working out to less than ten bucks per movie, this really isn’t the worst idea in the history of bad ideas. Universal’s scientists made it so you could — it’s your call whether you should. Though they’ve sure made it appealing. Except for the fact that come next year, there’ll be a six-pack including Dominion.

Gemini Man [Blu-ray] [4K UHD]

$13.49

Watch Will Smith try to hit himself, as he doubly stars as a younger version of himself sent to kill…himself. This 4k disc pushes high-definition to its maximum capacity, emphasizing director Ang Lee’s high frame rate of shooting and ground-breaking visual effects.

RALPH BREAKS THE INTERNET [4K UHD]

$7.38

This might just be the cheapest 4K you’ll find all week. After finding his inner hero, game villain Wreck-It Ralph journeys into cyberspace with BFF Vanellope, only to find out that the Internet can exacerbate your worst instincts. Worth it even just for the scenes of the casual Disney Princesses all working together. It’s shocking they haven’t had a team spin-off movie yet.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows (4K UHD + Blu-ray + Digital)

$9.96

So maybe the bulky Turtles redesigns weren’t exactly what fans wanted to see. At least this movie sequel gave them plenty of other fan service moments, like the emergence of Krang, the creation of Bebop and Rocksteady, a coomics-accurate African-American Baxter Stockman, and more. These additions came too late to save that iteration of the franchise, but they made for at least this one good movie.

Deadpool 4K Ultra-HD 4K UHD

$15.24

Netflix’s number one star Ryan Reynolds stars in this obscure little movie about a guy with a bad skin condition whose fiancee thinks he’s dead. So he moves in with a blind old woman and makes fun of a guy named Francis. Or something like that.

Eternals Feature 4K UHD

$27.47

Chloe Zhao might have made a movie too artsy for many MCU fans. But that’s what makes it stands out. Nobody can say that Eternals, which offers up a creation myth for the entire universe and suggests faith in supposedly flawless leaders is inevitably wrong, is just the same old thing. Extras include a commentary track and gag reel, and there’s a lot to talk about in the film itself.

Spider-Man: No Way Home [4K UHD]

$27.96

Finally! We have a release date! Order the latest Spider-Man movie now, and get it April 12! At last those of you who never left the house can take it all in, and those who did can pause obsessively for all the Easter eggs.
