ThunderCats: Lost #1 Preview Reveals New Characters, New Challenges

Dynamite Entertainment found great success in 2024 with their ThunderCats revival. The comic followed the original animated series storyline while offering a more mature take on the classic characters. That trend will continue in ThunderCats: Lost, a new sister series to the current monthly comic.

The new series will be handled by writer Ed Brisson and artist Rapha Lobosco. The two creators previously partnered on the ThunderCats: Apex one-shot, which introduced a new time-traveling character into the series’ mythology. Lost will similarly introduce some new characters who were not part of the original animated series. However, it will also offer a new origin for Lynx-O, Pumyra, and Bengali, three heroes who were introduced in the cartoon’s second season.

Brisson promises that ThunderCats: Lost will be a dark, war-based story, comparable to DC ComicsSuicide Squad. The series will center around five soldiers (Neko, Ligon, Bengali, Pumyra, and Lynx-O) who are trapped behind enemy lines. Cut off from their command and hunted by a powerful enemy, the five struggle to survive and escape.

“The world that the ThunderCats: Lost team have ventured into is very different from where our mainline ThunderCats are,” Brisson notes. “The trials and tribulations that they face as a result are unique to this series, though just as exciting and deadly. They find themselves trapped in a highly militarized zone, in a world that eschews magic in favor of hyper-advanced technology. This world is ruled with an iron fist, under a cruel dictator with an innate hatred of cats. So much so that they’re hellbent on stamping out this cat invasion before it can take root.”

ThunderCats: Lost #1 arrives in comic shops everywhere on March 5, 2025.
