DC Comics stunned attendees at the ComicsPRO convention with a surprise announcement. The state of the Batman monthly series following Hush 2 has been a total mystery. However, DC has now revealed that the series will relaunch with a new #1 issue. What’s more, the series’ creative team will be superstar writer Matt Fraction and artist Jorge Jiménez.
Fraction is one of the hottest writers in modern American comics. He first found fame as a columnist and commentator before breaking into comics with his creator-owned works. He spent several years at Marvel, where he won the Eisner Award for Best New Series for his writing on The Invincible Iron Man. Fraction has also won Harvey and Eisner Awards for his work on Hawkeye and served as a consultant on the Hawkeye TV show.
While not as famous as Fraction, Jiménez is no less talented or prolific. He has worked on multiple DC Comics series since 2005. However, apart from his recent run on Batman, he is best known for his work on Super Sons, Superman, and Justice League.
“I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for Batman. It was the first comic I ever read,” said Fraction. “Jorge and I have a very superhero-forward kind of take on Batman. We’ve got a new Batmobile, we’ve got a new costume, we’ve got new characters, and we’ve got a lot of old ones too—good and bad; all the stuff that makes Batman the coolest character in comics. We want to celebrate it all.”
When is the Matt Fraction Batman #1 release date window?

An exact release date for the new Batman #1 has not been confirmed. However, the release window has been narrowed down to September 2025. That will give Bat fans ample time to anticipate the rebirth of the Dark Knight Detective.
