Marvel To Publish New All-Ages Spider-Man Comics

For many years, comics in the United States were synonymous with children’s entertainment. Ironically, the reverse has come to be true in the 21st century, with most mainstream comics now rated for teens and adults. Marvel Comics seeks to address this, announcing two new Spider-Man series aimed at young readers.

Spidey and His Amazing Friends

Starting in August, younger audiences can look forward to a monthly comic based on one of their favorite superhero shows. Spidey and His Amazing Friends is based on the popular Disney Junior series of the same name. It will also utilize the same familiar art style as the show.

Written by Steve Behling, the series will center around Spidey, Ghost-Spider, and Spin. They will join forces with other Marvel heroes and face classic Spider-Man villains like the Green Goblin and Doctor Octopus. Each issue will also be filled with fun learning activities and puzzles to challenge young minds. The first issue will be released on August 7, 2024.

Spider-Man: Homeroom Heroes

The second new series, Spider-Man: Homeroom Heroes, is aimed at Middle Grade readers. This comic centers around a teenage Peter Parker. Much like the classic Stan Lee stories, Homeroom Heroes will examine how Peter balances his school work and super heroics.

Spider-Man: Homeroom Heroes will be written by Steve Foxe, with art by Arianna Florean. Each issue will feature two different ten-page stories. The cover for the first issue teases a conflict between She-Hulk and the Shocker.

The blurb for the first issue also makes mention of the villains Tombstone and Electro. Thankfully, it also promises that Peter will have friends to help him, along with his web-shooters, Spider-Sense, and creative knack for problem solving. The first issue releases on September 4, 2024.

The new Spider-Man books can be found at your friendly neighborhood comic shop.
