Captain America Joins the Resistance in Avengers: Twilight #2 Preview

Marvel Comics has released an official preview for the fast-approaching second issue of Chip Zdarsky and Daniel Acuña‘s Avengers: Twilight.

Featuring a main cover by Alex Ross, Avengers: Twilight #2 hits comic shops next Wednesday. Revealed exclusively by Looper, a four-page preview picks up right where issue #1 left off. In the closing moments of the series premiere, Steve Rogers/Captain America got a fresh dose of the Super-Soldier Serum and joined up with the Defenders — an underground rebel group led by former mayor Luke Cage. With a renewed sense of purpose, Cap wastes no time in protecting people from the government-controlled Iron Cops that patrol the streets.

What to expect from Avengers: Twilight #2

Written by Zdarsky and illustrated by Acuña, Avengers: Twilight launched earlier this month. The six-issue limited series offers a bleak take on the Marvel Universe’s future — taking place in a dystopian world where the disgraced Avengers of old have been replaced by a new breed of corrupt “heroes.” In an effort to save the world — and the Avengers‘ legacy — an aged Steve Rogers comes out of retirement.

An official synopsis for issue #2 reads as follows: “With the clock ticking to New Year’s Day, and the world against him, CAPTAIN AMERICA must build an army to save America! Will his surviving friends sign up, or is he going to have to lead the ragtag group called THE DEFENDERS against the expert military marksman known as BULLSEYE?”

Avengers: Twilight #2 goes on sale Wednesday, January 31 from Marvel Comics.
