Watchmen, All-Star Superman Announced as Part of DC’s New Graphic Novel Line, DC Compact Comics

Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons’ Watchmen and Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely’s All-Star Superman will both be part of DC’s new line of graphic novels, DC Compact Comics.

DC has officially announced a new line in its graphic novel slate: DC Compact Comics. DC Compact Comics are reprints of popular adult graphic novels — presented in standard trade paperback novel format (5.5 x 8.5 inches).

“The DC Compact Comics price and sizing is perfect for readers of prose and manga looking to pick up a new-reader-friendly storyline in a self-contained full-color graphic novel,” said Anne DePies, DC’s senior vice president and general manager.  “This 5.5″ x 8.5″ paper cut is the most widely circulated softcover book size in the US and is popular among graphic novel aficionados in international markets. At $9.99, it’s a great price point for retailers to stock these classic titles. For readers, DC Compact Comics deliver a new graphic novel reading experience that fits in the palm of their hands, with no loss of readability.”

What other titles will be included in the DC Compact Comics line?

Along with Watchmen and All-Star Superman, titles such as Batman: The Court of Owls (by Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo), Far Sector (by N.K. Jemisin and Jamal Campbell), Wonder Woman: Earth One (by Grant Morrison and Yanick Paquette), American Vampire Book One (by Scott Snyder, Stephen King, and Rafael Albuquerque), Batman: Hush (by Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee), Joker (by Brian Azzarello and Lee Bermejo), Harley Quinn & the Gotham City Sirens (by Paul Dini, Peter Calloway, Tony Bedard, Guillem March, and Andres Guinaldo), and Catwoman: Trail of the Catwoman (by Darwin Cooke and Ed Brubaker) will be offered as DC Compact Comics for $9.99.

DC Compact Comics will hit shelves in June 2024.
