The CW’s Arrowverse Comes to Comics as Earth Prime

For the past ten years, DC Comics characters have come to the small screen on The CW‘s Arrow and its various sister shows in the same universe. Those shows have become an acknowledged part of the live-action DC multiverse that includes all movies to date. But now they’re coming full circle and expanding into comics, as part of a six-issue event called Earth Prime. Approved by CW producers, the miniseries will focus on five different shows, with a sixth issue that crosses over.

Issue one will feature the comics debut of Ryan Wilder’s Batwoman, in a story cowritten by the show’s costar Camrus Johnson. Per the synopsis, “Ever since the tech that created many of Batman’s rogues hit the streets, Ryan Wilder has been running herself ragged trying to contain the new villains popping up around Gotham City. But when Clayface’s (making his CW debut) mud binds itself to a local high schooler, Batwoman will need help from an unexpected source to contain this muddy foe!”

Issue 2 features Superman and Lois, in a story set on their first anniversary. Plus, per the synopsis, “the true origins of the evil Superman from John Henry Irons’ world are finally revealed!” Comics based on Legends of Tomorrow, Stargirl, and The Flash will follow. Earth Prime #1, featuring Batwoman, debuts April 5th, with subsequent issues following every two weeks. Covers by Kim Jacinto, with variant photo covers featuring The CW actors.
