Marvel’s New Venom Crossover, King In Black, Will Arrive In December

Back in 2018, Donny Cates and artist Ryan Stegman began their run on Venom by introducing Eddie Brock’s most dangerous adversary to date: Knull, the God of Symbiotes. Until recently, Knull’s physical body was still trapped within the Planet of the Symbiotes. However, Knull broke free during the Absolute Carnage event, thanks to Venom. Now, Knull is finally coming to Earth in a new Venom-centric crossover.

Via Marvel.com, Cates and Stegman are reuniting for King In Black; which will arrive in comic book stores this December. While Venom will be the primary character, he won’t be alone in the struggle against Knull. The preview image by Stegman hints that the Avengers, the X-Men, and Spider-Man will all be involved. Regardless, Cates teased that Earth’s mightiest heroes won’t be enough against this threat.

“As far as event books go, this is the coolest, darkest, most heavy metal, Cthulhu dark horror thing I’ve ever been able to do,” said Cates. “I still can’t believe that Marvel is letting us go as dark and scary as we’re going.”

“One of the things I’m most proud of in this series… is the creation of the character Knull,” added Stegman. “We have some new designs that we’ll be unveiling throughout the series that are really cool and really creepy.”
