Suicide Squad Director Shares Jared Leto’s Joker Alternate Look
We might not see him again in the upcoming DC Extended Universe movies, but Jared Leto’s Joker is still popular among a large group of fans. Leto had the chance to play the character in 2016’s Suicide Squad, which was a box office success but still divided audiences. Now, director David Ayer has recently returned to Instagram and shared an early Joker makeup test from the 2016’s blockbuster. “The research and fine tuning when crafting a character are endless,” reads the caption.
You can take a look at Jared Leto’s Joker alternate look below.
There are a few differences with the final makeup of the character. First of all, in the makeup test he has a quite flashy “hahahahah” tattoo instead of his eyebrows. Then he lacks the controversial “damaged” tattoo in the middle of his forehead. They both have in common the letter J tattooed under the left eye, though.
Skimming through the comments, we can see it is quite obvious that Jared Leto’s portrayal of Gotham’s Clown Prince of Crime is still dividing the fans. There are those who miss him and who would like to see him coming back in the future and those who wish Leto had never worn the makeup in the very first place.
Now Leto has parted ways with the DC for now, as he is going to portray Morbius the Living Vampire for Sony’s Marvel universe. However, his Joker could technically survive in the DCEU for another movie, as he will most likely at least be mentioned in Birds of Prey.
