Disney CEO Bob Iger Says Steve Jobs Hated Iron Man 2

A lot of news regarding the opinion former Apple CEO Steve Jobs had about comic books and comic book related materials made it to the web recently. Long story short, Jobs didn’t like comic books. At all. In his recently released autobiography, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that Jobs also despised 2010’s Iron Man 2 (via Screen Rant).

“When Iron Man 2 came out, Steve took his son to see it and called me the next day,” Iger wrote. “‘I took Reed to see Iron Man 2 last night,’ he said. ‘It sucked.'”

Of course, Iger couldn’t swallow that bad review from Jobs just like that. In spite of the fact that Iger knew the limits of Marvel Studios’ movie, he couldn’t let Jobs “feel he was right all the time,” thus he defended his work from the harsh opinion of the computer guru by pointing the box office numbers out.

Jobs, on the other hand, never made a mystery of the fact he didn’t like comic books. The same Bob Iger, who was quite close with Jobs, recently revealed that he “claimed to have never read a comic book in his life.” According to Iger, Jobs claimed that the only thing he hated more than videogames were comic books. All this may have influenced Job’s opinion about Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2. To be honest, though, that movie was far from an Oscar-winning movie. Yet, claiming that it “sucked” seems a little bit too harsh. And it has held up better than some people expected.
