Batman star Christian Bale counts himself among the fans who are counting the days to see Todd Phillips’ Joker. After all, Bale had quite a run with Gotham’s Prince of Crime in Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, as he faced Heath Ledger’s Joker in The Dark Knight. In a recent interview with ET Canada, Bale revealed that he is really looking forward to seeing Joaquin Phoenix as Joker in the upcoming picture.
“Joaquin Phoenix is one of the best actors around, you know,” Bale said. “Obviously I’ve worked with Heath (Ledger); it’s a brave thing to follow up that performance. He (Joaquin) always makes really interesting choices. I’m dying to see it, wish them the best with that.”

Then the interview switched to a tricky question, as Bale was asked if Robert Pattinson got in touch with him looking for advice. After answering no to the question, the actor actually went on to endorse Pattinson’s casting as Bruce Wayne.
“I think he is a fantastic choice,” Bale added. “He’s interesting.”
According to the first reviews, Joaquin Phoenix is killing it with his Joker, and some are already predicting that the actor will have a successful run at the Academy Awards with Todd Phillips’ movie. As Bale said, it will not be easy for Phoenix to stand up to Ledger’s performance. In addition, the fact that he has “forgotten” to mention Jared Leto’s performance as Joker is quite eloquent.
