DC Brings the Death of Superman to the Dark Multiverse

For every major event in the history of DC Comics, there’s been a dark reflection happening in an alternate universe. In the case of the famous Death of Superman storyline, things unfolded quite differently after the world watched the Man of Steel give his life to stop Doomsday. Via CBR, DC will tell the Dark Multiverse’s version of this story with a new one-shot arriving in the fall.

Tales from the Dark Multiverse: The Death of Superman will be one of the first comics to explore the dark flipside of DC mythology. Following Superman’s “demise,” a grieving Lois Lane will take on the powers and the mantle of the Eradicator. She subsequently embarks on a quest to avenge her lost love. Judging by Lee Weeks’ chilling cover art for the issue, the results are not going to be pretty. And since the book is taking a darker approach, we have to wonder if Lois will make it out alive or intact.

Jeff Loveness is handling writing duties for the new story. Previously, Loveness has written for television on shows like Rick and Morty and Jimmy Kimmel Live. He has also worked with Marvel on Nova and Groot. He’ll be joined by the artistic team of Brad Walker and Andrew Hennessy.

Additionally, DC will release Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Knightfall two weeks earlier. The publisher is also gearing up for dark re-imaginings of New Teen Titans: The Judas Contract, Blackest Night, and Infinite Crisis.

Tales from the Dark Multiverse: The Death of Superman hits comic store shelves on October 30. You can check out Weeks’ cover for the one-shot below, then tell us what you think in the comment section!
