New Powers of X Teaser Image Advises Readers to ‘Fear the Future’

We’re getting closer to the launch of Jonathan Hickman’s two new X-Men miniseries that will supposedly bring about great change to the Marvel Universe (as tends to be the case with most revamped titles). To hype one of the books, Marvel has released a new teaser featuring three characters that will apparently make their debut in Powers of X. You can check out the image for yourself via Twitter below.

It’s anyone’s guess as to where the new mutants’ respective allegiances lie. However, it’s worth mentioning that all three of them look like amalgamations of existing characters. As Newsarama notes, the character on the far rights looks like a hybrid between Nightcrawler and his father, Azazel; the middle figure is dressed like Magneto, but with a color scheme reminiscent of his daughter, Polaris; and the last character appears to be a mash-up of Colossus and Magik.

Marvel’s logline for Powers of X’s first issue explains that the series “reveals the secret past, present and future of mutantkind, changing the way you look at every X-Men story before and after.” Its story will intertwine with Hickman’s House of X, which will release contemporaneously this summer.

Powers of X #1 will hit comic store shelves in July. Do you have any additional theories about these characters? Give us your impressions in the comment section below!
