HBO Max has released a teaser for its upcoming Harry Potter TV series. The recent footage also revealed when fans can expect the new trailer for the latest Wizarding World adventure to drop.
The 10-second video was revealed during a livestream celebrating “Back to Hogwarts Day” on September 1. While the broadcast focused on the latest merchandise, games, and an official podcast with the series’ executive producer David Heyman, it ended on a high note with the trailer announcement.
The brief clip offers a glimpse at Harry Potter’s time at Hogwarts. It appears to center on Quidditch, with Harry preparing for the game while his friends cheer him. In contrast, the March teaser focused heavily on Harry’s life before Hogwarts. HBO confirmed that the second trailer will arrive Wednesday, September 2, 2026.

The Harry Potter reboot will revisit J.K. Rowling’s seven-book story across various seasons. The first season, titled Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, is based on the novel of the same name. It follows Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, and Hermione Granger as they join the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. As they learn more about the magical world, a strong friendship develops between them. Together, they face the growing threat of Lord Voldemort’s return.
The logline reads, “There is nothing special about Harry Potter – at least that’s what his Aunt Petunia always says. On his 11th birthday, a letter of admittance to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry opens up a hidden world for Harry: one of fun, friendship and magic. Dominic McLaughlin stars as the title character, with Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley. The main adult cast includes John Lithgow as Albus Dumbledore, Paapa Essiedu as Severus Snape, Janet McTeer as Minerva McGonagall, and Nick Frost as Rubeus Hagrid.
The series will premiere on HBO and HBO Max on December 25, 2026.
