A new X-Men update suggests that the anticipated MCU reboot may witness a title change ahead of its release. The superhero reboot will be directed by Jake Schreier, who previously helmed Marvel’s Thunderbolts*.
Following D23, Disney has added the X-Men movie to its release calendar. Interestingly, the release calendar currently lists the project as Untitled X-Men.
The listing suggests that X-Men may not be the film’s final title, although Marvel has not announced an official title. The film is expected to introduce the origin of the mutants into the MCU, although plot details remain under wraps.

Who is starring in the MCU X-Men movie?
Last week’s D23 event brought major news for Marvel fans awaiting an official cast announcement for the Untitled X-Men reboot movie. Disney’s event unveiled an initial lineup of cast members. Sadie Sink, who was revealed as Jean Grey in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, was present on the stage to unveil the new cast of the upcoming film. The most surprising reveal was that Obsession star Inde Navarrette was introduced as Rogue for the Untitled X-Men film.
Other actors who have joined the MCU movie include Ready or Not star Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, Heartstopper’s Kit Connor as Scott Summers/Cyclops, theater actress Maya Boyd as Storm, and Wolf Man’s Christopher Abbott as Charles Xavier/Professor X.
During the D23 event, Star Wars star Adam Driver made a surprise video appearance while revealing that he has also joined the untitled movie as Nathaniel Milbury/Mister Sinister. The actor had already been rumored to be involved in the film for the past few months.
While seven cast members have reportedly been announced for X-Men, further additions are expected as well in the future.
As of now, the Untitled X-Men reboot movie is set to hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
