Indiana Jones: Harrison Ford Set to Reprise Iconic Role for New Project, Details Revealed

Harrison Ford is set to return as the beloved character Indiana Jones, but with a surprising twist. The veteran actor and Hollywood star has previously been featured in the iconic role across various blockbuster movies in the fantasy adventure franchise.

During last week’s D23 event, Harrison Ford made an exciting appearance. In his video announcement, the 84-year-old icon revealed that he will be the model for the Indiana Jones animatronic. It will be the first time his face will appear on a Disney attraction anywhere in the world.

The upcoming attraction will be called Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park at Walt Disney World. It will take riders on a thrilling journey in the ancient world of Maya, where they will come across Dr. Jones exploring a mysterious temple. The concept art was also unveiled for the new attraction, featuring Ford’s likeness.

When was the last time Harrison Ford played Indiana Jones in a movie?

Harrison Ford was last seen as Indiana Jones in 2023’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny movie. It was the fifth installment in the long-running series that initially kicked off with 1981’s Raiders of the Lost Ark, where Ford appeared as Indiana Jones for the first time on the big screen.

Speaking more of Dial of Destiny, it didn’t really create the impact that the past four films had. Directed by James Mangold, it was made on a budget of $300 million but couldn’t turn a huge profit. It only made just over $380 million worldwide.

However, Dial of Destiny did manage to impress critics and audience members. Currently, it holds a solid Tomatometer score of 71% and Popcornmeter score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Besides the movies, Harrison Ford also made a significant appearance as Indiana Jones in video games. His likeness as a young Indiana Jones was used for 2024’s Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. The action-adventure game was developed by MachineGames and published by Bethesda Softworks.
