Adam Driver’s rumored role in Marvel Studios’ X-Men Reboot has received another major update. Driver was previously linked to multiple characters in the movie. Now, insider Jeff Sneider says his sources believe the actor will play the villain.
Sneider shared the update on his blog while discussing the developing X-Men cast. He wrote, “Bemba could be one of them… or perhaps Charles Melton… though I wouldn’t be shocked to see Adam Driver take the stage, as I’m told that he will, in fact, play the film’s villain. My sources don’t know who it is yet, but they’re leaning toward Mister Sinister, a character teased at the end of X-Men: Apocalypse that the franchise never did anything with.”
What other X-Men roles has Adam Driver been rumored for?
Adam Driver has been connected to several X-Men roles in recent weeks. The first major rumor claimed he would play Magneto, but a later report switched the character to Mister Sinister. A separate report then linked Driver to William Stryker, adding another possible villain to the list.
Marvel Studios has not yet confirmed Adam Driver’s casting or his character. The rumors also came after Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel has repeatedly discussed roles with Driver. However, Feige said the actor has passed on those opportunities.
Marvel’s new X-Men movie is being directed by Jake Schreier. The project is expected to introduce a younger mutant team, with Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving as Emma Frost, and Kit Connor as Cyclops. Charles Melton and Cailee Spaeny have also been rumored for Beast and Rogue.
The film does not yet have a publicly confirmed release date. It is expected to follow Avengers: Secret Wars, which Marvel currently lists for December 17, 2027.
