The review for Lanterns is hinting at the debut of two major fan-favorite characters from DCU. Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre star as Hal Jordan and John Stewart in the upcoming superhero series. Alongside them, the Green Lantern show features several important characters related to Green Lantern’s villains.
As has been revealed by The Wrap, one of Green Lantern’s biggest enemies, Sinestro, will be joining in. Adding to him, Hector Hammond and the Manhunters will be featured in the series. Furthermore, Hal Jordan’s girlfriend Carol Ferris, who later becomes Star Sapphire, will also reportedly be a part of the project.
While Ulrich Thomsen will be playing the role of Sinestro, Hector Hammond and Carol Ferris were not previously announced as part of the show. While The Wrap has revealed the involvement of these popular characters, details about their casting and role in the narrative of the series continue to remain under wraps.

Alongside Aaron Pierre and Kyle Chandler, several big names are a part of the HBO series. Per TechRadar, Kelly Macdonald will play the role of Sheriff Kerry. The cast will feature Ulrich Thomsen and Nathan Fillion as Thaal Sinestro and Guy Gardner, respectively. The list also includes Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones.
The first five minutes of the series have been released just days before its premiere. The preview revealed some details about Hal Jordan and how his character will be incorporated into the narrative of the show. In the first five minutes, Hal Jordan has been introduced as Green Lantern. In a TV interview, Jordan is seen reflecting on his past as a military veteran. The storyline begins in 1996 and then jumps to 2016.
The eight-episode show will air weekly on HBO and HBO Max every Sunday starting on August 16, 2026.
