Marvel Comics has teased the dramatic finale of its upcoming DNX crossover event, which pits X-Men leader Cyclops against a terrifying version of Beast. Written by Jed MacKay, the five-issue X-Men storyline officially kicks off in September with DNX #1, and its ending will pave the way for a new Marvel era.
The premise of DNX follows the X-Men teaming up with the Fantastic Four to face the threat of the X-Virus, which holds the power to mutate all of humanity.
In the storyline, the X-Men will face off against the clandestine group 3K, which wants to forcibly transform all humans into mutants. Starting in X-Men #35 as a prologue, the crossover will require readers to follow multiple issues of X-Men, DNX, and Fantastic Four comic books.
What do we know about the new era of Marvel and X-Men after the Cyclops and Beast fight?
The storyline will come to its conclusion in DNX #5, going on sale on November 18, 2026. The final issue, as the cover suggests, will pit the leader of the X-Men, Scott Summers, against Henry McCoy. Cyclops isn’t going up against the regular Beast, but an older, “amoral” version of the mutant from the future, who is the chairman of 3K, a White Beast.
Marvel hasn’t revealed much about what it plans to do in its comic-book continuity following DNX. “When the dust settles, fans can expect an exciting shakeup for MacKay and Netho Diaz’s X-Men,” reads a statement from the company. Given that Marvel is building up the fight between the X-Men members, it appears that one of their deaths will shift the status quo of Marvel comics.
