James Gunn recently clarified the upcoming DCU show’s release pattern in one word. Many fans were confused about the show’s rollout schedule after the premiere date of Lanterns was confirmed. A fan took to Threads and tagged the co-CEO for confirmation.
In this Threads post, the American filmmaker was asked, “Will @greenlantern release weekly or all at once?? A lot of conflicting reports going around, thanks!!!” He replied, “Weekly.”
However, this was predicted by many since the show will be releasing on HBO Max. The streamer has a history of releasing shows weekly. So, viewers can watch the anticipated eight-episode series through the next two months.

What is the DCU Lanterns show about?
DC Studios dropped the show’s first trailer earlier this year, followed by a series of promotions and interviews with the creators.
Chris Mundy serves as the showrunner. Alongside him, it’s co-written by Damon Lindelof and Tom King, who also serve as series co-creators. In a recent interview, King confirmed that the anticipated show will have six different twists. Moreover, the creators have compared the show to HBO’s True Detective and Training Day, blending superhero action with crime thrillers.
Lanterns is set in Rushville, Nebraska, and follows the journey of Hal Jordan, who teams with a new recruit, John Stewart, to solve a murder case. Stewart believes that extraterrestrial threats lurk behind the crime. As the investigation progresses, the duo face a much darker conspiracy.
Aaron Pierre stars as the lead character, with Kyle Chandler as Hal, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, who was previously seen in Superman.
The ensemble also includes Kelly Macdonald, Garret Dillahunt, Poorna Jagannathan, Laura Linney, Jason Ritter, Ulrich Thomsen, J. Alphonse Nicholson, and Jasmine Cephas Jones. James Hawes, Stephen Williams, Geeta Vasant Patel, and Alik Sakharov serve as the directors of the episodes.
