The latest episode of The Boys Season 5 featured a major development as Homelander succeeded in reaching the V1 before Billy Butcher and his crew. The compound, which Homelander injected at the end of Episode 6, could potentially make the superhero immortal, transforming him into an even greater threat.
So, how can Homelander still lose? Here are a few possibilities.
Can the Boys defeat an immortal Homelander after V1?
Though defeating Homelander may now be significantly more difficult, there are still possible ways to take him down. However, fans still do not know the full effects of the compound after Homelander injected himself with V1.
One possibility is still Ryan, who previously nearly defeated Stormfront. Stormfront also had V1, but that did not stop the natural-born supe from displaying his strength against her. Although Homelander overpowered Ryan earlier, there is still a possibility that Ryan could eventually confront his father in a final battle.
Marie Moreau is another character who could potentially challenge Homelander. Gen V Season 2 has suggested that she is among the most powerful supes in the world, possessing abilities that appear almost god-like, including resurrection. In some ways, Marie’s powers make her seem even more extraordinary than Homelander. So far, Gen V characters have also not played a major role in The Boys.
As a result, it could be fitting if either Marie or Ryan ultimately defeats Homelander.
Another possibility involves Sister Sage. Her earlier attempt to keep Homelander away from the V1 failed, but she could still develop another strategy to stop him. As the smartest person in the world, Sage may discover a method that allows the virus to counter the effects of V1. She could also potentially create another weapon capable of killing Homelander.
Anyhow, at this point in The Boys, Homelander appears to have the upper hand. With only two episodes remaining in the series, the direction of the story continues to generate anticipation among viewers.
