Don’t expect Marie Moreou to show up soon in The Boys Season 5
The Boys Season 5 continues to keep Gen V’s Marie Moreau on the sidelines through its early episodes. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello claims “Marie won’t appear in The Boys Season 5 till episode 7.” The show’s first three episodes reference Marie without bringing her on screen.
The Boys Season 5, Episode 3 reveals that Marie leads a team for Starlight’s resistance. Stan Edgar asks Starlight if Marie Moreau is “running late,” confirming she maintains contact with the group. The series uses these mentions to keep narrative consistency with Gen V Season 2’s ending.
Showrunner Eric Kripke previously tempered expectations about Marie’s role in interviews ahead of Season 5. He told Variety that Marie still lacks control over her abilities despite her raw power. “She’s not Keanu at the end of The Matrix, because — based on the next couple Matrixes — it’s not great for drama,” Kripke said.
Kripke echoed this sentiment in a prior interview with The Hollywood Reporter. He described Marie as someone still wrestling with the extent of her abilities. “Those become bummer, boring Messiah characters, and she’s not that,” Kripke told the outlet.
Speaking previously to ComicBook, Kripke acknowledged fans want to see Homelander defeated but cautioned against expecting Marie to deliver that blow. “Marie has a lot of growing to do, and a lot of setbacks and challenges,” Kripke said. He added that a direct confrontation with Homelander might not go well for her.
The Boys Season 5 picks up roughly six months after the Gen V Season 2 finale. Marie and the Gen V characters join Starlight and A-Train in the broader fight against Vought. Meanwhile, Season 5’s early episodes focus on Homelander’s escalating god complex and Soldier Boy’s return to The Seven.
Gen V Season 3 has yet to receive a renewal, making this season’s handling of Marie even more crucial.
