Nexus Point News recently reported that filming for God of War would begin in March 2026. Thus, production would span for at least a year, likely ending by March or April 2027. Post-production would then follow and take place for several months. As such, the aforementioned late 2027-early 2028 release timeframe becomes all the more likely.

Earlier this year, Ronald D. Moore shared in an appearance on Katee Sackhoff’s The Sackhoff Show that two more seasons of God of War had been ordered by Amazon.
The upcoming God of War TV Series will adapt the Norse mythology portion of the story. Season 1 is expected to adapt the story told in 2018’s God of War. Like in that game, it will follow Kratos — the former Olympian God of War — who embarks on a perilous journey with his son, Atreus, to spread the ashes of his late wife and Atreus’ mother at the highest peak of the Nine Realms. During their journey, the pair encounters multiple allies and foes alike.
