Here’s what we know about Evie Templeton, her role in Wednesday Season 2, and the facts behind her sudden rise.
Facts about Wednesday Season 2’s Evie Templeton
Evie Templeton plays Agnes DeMille in Wednesday Season 2
Agnes is a 13-year-old Nevermore Academy student and Wednesday Addams’s obsessive fan who becomes a major antagonist in Part 1. She mimics Wednesday’s look with bright red pigtails and uses stalking, manipulation, and violence to try to replace Enid as Wednesday’s best friend.
Agnes debuts in Episode 2, nearly kills Enid on Prank Day, and continues a tense rivalry with her throughout the season. Templeton added her own touches to the character, including Agnes’s curtsy and stylized voice. Tim Burton said Templeton’s casting helped shape Agnes, describing her as having “a weird, silent-movie actress quality.”
How Evie Templeton got the role
Templeton auditioned with coded sides but recognized the tone from Wednesday Season 1, which she had watched multiple times with her sister. After her self-tape and in-person audition, she met with Tim Burton, Alfred Gough, and Miles Millar on Zoom and later had a chemistry read with Jenna Ortega and Emma Myers.
Millar said Templeton “snapped right into our world” during auditions. Ortega nicknamed her “Young Evie,” while Myers praised her professionalism and talent. Templeton worked closely with the cast while keeping her casting a secret from most friends and family.
Templeton’s background and career
Born in Barbados in 2009, Templeton moved to England at age 7. She studied at Tring Park School for Performing Arts and attended LAMDA on a scholarship. Her stage credits include Les Misérables in London’s West End.
Onscreen, she played Grace Holland in Lord of Misrule, Lisa in Criminal Record, and voiced Laura in Silent Hill 2. She reprises Laura in Return to Silent Hill (2026).
Personal life and interests
Templeton enjoys dancing, singing, acting, writing, and hopes to direct. She is introverted and influenced by her ballet-dancer sister. Her interests include Billie Eilish, Gilmore Girls, vintage films, and Friends.
She created a detailed mood board and journal for Agnes. Tim Burton guided her performance to emphasize eerie expressions and silent pauses. Templeton described Agnes as “very insecure at heart” and connected with the character’s need for approval.
Agnes’s future in the series
Agnes will return in Part 2 of Season 2, premiering September 3. Showrunner Miles Millar confirmed, “Agnes is now part of the firmament of Nevermore,” and her relationships with Wednesday and Enid will continue to evolve.
