Resident Alien star Sara Tomko recently revealed that a movie could continue the story now that the show is ending with Season 4. Sara Tomko says a Resident Alien movie could happen instead of Season 5
Sara Tomko has confirmed that a Resident Alien movie could happen in the future. During a panel at Comic-Con International in San Diego, Tomko said, “Maybe in the future, we’ll do a movie” (via ComicBookResources). This statement came after the official announcement that Resident Alien will end with Season 4, with no Season 5 planned.
Series creator and showrunner Chris Sheridan explained that he knew going into production that Season 4 would likely be the final chapter. Speaking to TV Insider, Sheridan said, “I knew going into it that this was likely going to be our final season,” adding, “Creatively, that was exciting because I knew we could spend the time wrapping up some storylines and driving toward an ending.” Sheridan also stated the finale, airing August 8, 2025, is “probably my favorite episode of the series.”
The cancellation came despite positive critical reception, including a 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Alan Tudyk, who stars as Harry Vanderspeigle, said at SDCC, “It’s not anybody’s fault… our ratings are better than they’ve ever been. And it’s just what the business is doing. There isn’t any money.” Alice Wetterlund added, “We’re not being canceled for normal reasons… people are still discovering the show now, like today.”
Resident Alien premiered on Syfy in January 2021 and aired its fourth and final season on both Syfy and USA Network. The series is based on the comic by Peter Hogan and Steve Parkhouse and follows Harry, an alien who takes on a human identity to complete a mission to destroy Earth, only to question his orders after forming connections in a Colorado town.
New episodes of Season 4 air Fridays at 11 p.m. ET, with the finale scheduled for August 8. Previous episodes are available to stream on Peacock.
