DC’s Lanterns’ HBO Max Release Date Estimate, News & Updates

The DC’s Lanterns release date is highly anticipated among fans. Created by Chris Mundy, the upcoming superhero series follows the adventures of seasoned Lantern Hal Jordan and new recruit John Stewart. As they investigate a murder in Nebraska, they uncover darker and larger mysteries at play.

Here’s everything you need to know about its release date and the latest updates.

What is the DC’s Lanterns release date estimate?

The estimated release date for DC’s Lanterns is early 2026.

It has been reported that the DC Studios and HBO Max Lanterns series has officially wrapped filming. Typically, once filming concludes, the project enters post-production, which can take several months to a year before release.

This includes editing, visual effects, and sound design, all crucial to a high-budget production. Since Lanterns completed filming in July, early 2026 is a likely release window—assuming no unforeseen delays occur.

DC’s Lanterns news and updates

James Gunn, co-CEO and Chairman of DC Studios, announced Lanterns as part of the “Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters” slate. In a video, he described the plot:

“This is a story of a couple of Green Lanterns—John Stewart and Hal Jordan. We have a few other Lanterns peppered in there, but this is really a terrestrial-based TV show which is almost like True Detective with a couple of Green Lanterns who are space cops watching over Precinct Earth. In it, they discover a terrifying mystery that ties into our largest story of the DCU.”

The series will consist of eight episodes. The main cast includes Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Aaron Pierre as John Stewart, Kelly Macdonald as Kerry, and Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner. Executive producers are Gunn, Peter Safran, Damon Lindelof, Tom King, Chris Mundy, James Hawes, and Ron Schmidt.

Lanterns will premiere on HBO Max, joining other major DCU titles.
