Many are wondering about Julian McMahon’s cause of death after it was reported on July 4 that the Fantastic Four actor sadly passed away. Julian McMahon is known for his roles as Doctor Doom in the Fantastic Four duology (2005 and 2007), Magistrate and Jonah in Marvel’s Runaways, Cole Turner in Charmed, and Dr. Christian in Nip/Tuck. His wife, Kelly McMahon, shared in a statement that the actor passed away at the age of 56 after a private battle with cancer. What is Fantastic Four’s Julian McMahon cause of death?
Julian McMahon’s cause of death has been ruled as natural and that he “died from lung metastatis as a result of head and neck metastatic cancer.” This means that the cancer first formed in the head and neck and then spread to the lung.
This statement comes from a Cremation Approval Summary Report from the Pinellas County Medical Examiner’s Office in Florida, as reported by USA Today. It also reveals that McMahon passed away on July 2.
Kelly McMahon said in her statement that he “died peacefully this week after a valiant effort to overcome cancer.” She says that “his deepest wish was to bring joy into as many lives as possible” and that they “ask for support during this time to allow our family to grieve in privacy.”
Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd, who played Mister Fantastic / Reed Richards in Fantastic Four (2005), shared a tribute to Julian McMahon on Instagram. He recalls that “even though we played each other’s nemeses, there was always so much lightness and laughter working together…It was an honor to be Dr. Richards to his Dr. Doom.”
Actor Michael Chiklis, who played The Thing in the films, also posted a statement on his Instagram. “I’m devastated to hear of the passing of my friend Julian,” he wrote, “Life is so precious and fragile. My condolences to his family. RIP Jules.”
In March, McMahon shared his support on the casting of Robert Downey Jr. in his upcoming portrayal of Doctor Doom in the MCU.
SuperHeroHype extends its condolences to the family and friends of McMahon.
