As 2011 winds down, Marvel Studios is looking towards the future, specifically its 2014 release calendar. Their first release of that year is now scheduled to arrive nearly three months earlier.
Currently untitled, the film had planned on a June 27th release and will now bow on April 4th. Another untitled Marvel Studios project is still planned to arrive on May 16th.
Previous reports suggest that one of these projects is likely the sequel to this year’s Captain America: The First Avenger.
“They may wait until 2014 until they release the next ‘Cap’,” Chris Evans told The Playlist in September. “Marvel has a lot of balls in the air. They aren’t going to cannibalize their films.”
As it stands, Marvel will release The Avengers on May 4, 2012. Iron Man 3 follows on May 3, 2013 and Thor 2 on November 15, 2013.
