Wolverine 2 Director Rumors Surface

August 30, 2010

Contenders include David Slade and Darren Aronofsky

David Slade and Darren Aronofsky are two of the names said to be in the running for Wolverine 2, according to Deadline.

Slade made his directing debut with 2005's Hard Candy and has since gone on to direct 30 Days of Night and, just this past summer, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse. Aronofsky, meanwhile, has not directed a film the size of Wolverine, but worked with Jackman previously on The Fountain. His next film, Black Swan, sees release this December through Fox Searchlight.

Wolverine 2, said to revolve around Logan's samurai training in Japan, is moving forward with a script from Christopher McQuarrie (The Usual Suspects, Valkyrie) and Hugh Jackman is rumored to make it his next project once filming is complete on Real Steel.

Deadline also reports that the Wolverine spinoff Deadpool is continuing its search for a director, but that Robert Rodriguez remains the top contender. Scheduling, particularly in the case of likely star Ryan Reynolds, remains the film's biggest obstacle.

Interesting
I don't really like Aaronofsky. Fountain was a waste of potential. Slade could be good though, Twilight notwithstanding

hmmm
i could go with either director. surprisingly, twilight eclipse was actually entertaining so david slade is somewhat a miracle worker and i would watch anything aronofsky directs. watching those wide shots of jackman screaming in origins made me miss those tight shots of pure emotion in the fountain.

mmmmm no
I think Slade is an excellent director just bein wasted on the wrong project.Wolverine is still in that category. As for Aronofsky, when he did the Wrestler I was worried that he would lose his independent sensibilty. But he did such an amazing job he still proves me wrong. He WILL lose it though if he gets involved with Wolverine. They just need to scrap the whole project all together instead of destroyin good filmmakers cred

As if...
As if Darren Aronofski would direct a Fox produced family friendly superhero movie. Will never happen.
