Tralalaaaa! Sit down with the Captain Underpants cast to explore The First Epic Movie

Wonder Woman isn’t the only superhero hitting the big screen this Friday! DreamWorks Animation and 20th Century Fox are bringing to the big screen the first ever adaptation of Dav Pilkey‘s bestselling book series, Captain Underpants! The film’s voice cast includes Kevin Hart (Ride AlongJumanji) and Thomas Middleditch (Silicon Valley, Search Party) as George and Harold, Nick Kroll (Loving, Sing) as the villainous Professor Poopypants, and Ed Helms (The Office, The Hangover) in the dual role of both the curmudgeonly Principal Krupp and the title hero himself.

We recently had the chance to sit down with the voice cast and, in the player below, you can watch as they explain what it took to bring the books to life and why Captain Underpants is a hero for everyone who loves to laugh.

Fans have been awaiting the Captain Underpants movie since it was first announced way back in 2011. The books, first launched by Scholastic in September of 1997, tell the story of two mischievous kids, George Beard and Harold Hutchins, who hypnotize their school principal and turn him into their comic book creation, Captain Underpants.

There are over 50 million Pilkey books in print in the U.S. alone. A dozen Captain Underpants books have been published in 19 countries and several have debuted at #1 on various best-seller lists, including The New York Times and USA Today.

David Soren (Turbo) is directing the new movie from a script by Nicholas Stoller (Neighbors, Storks). The Captain Underpants cast also includes Jordan Peele (Key & Peele, Keanu) as nerdy tattletale Melvin Sneedly.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie will debut in theaters on June 2.
