The Academy Awards nominations are always pretty divisive and this year is certainly no exception. Some notable snubs include the lack of Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s phenomenally well-received The LEGO Movie in the Best Animated Feature category, Selma director Ava DuVernay’s name missing from the Best Director category and the larger lack of representation for women and minorities. What led this new controversy and do we even really need awards shows in the first place? We’re taking the issue head on in the latest episode of Most Craved, which features special guest star Derek Mears!
Mears, best known for taking on the iconic role of Jason Vorhees in Platinum Dunes’ recent Friday the 13th reboot, has also starred in films like Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters and, if you’re a fan of “Community,” the hit action franchise Kickpuncher. If you’re in the Los Angeles area, you can also check out Derek’s new improv comedy action troupe The Resistance, which performs every Sunday night at 9 p.m. at The Comedy Sportz Theater in Hollywood.
We’ve also launched the official Most Craved Twitter feed and we’d love it if you’d give us a follow! Then be sure to reach out to let us know your thoughts on any of today’s topics or to suggest a topic to be covered in a future episode! We’re always listening and want to know what kind of coverage matters to you.
