Venom Spin-off Game Hopes Addressed by Spider-Man 2 Dev

Venom: Lethal Protector Spin-off Game Detailed in Insomniac Leak

A recent ransomware attack on Insomniac Games has led to more than 1 million files being leaked online. Said leaks include mention of a Spider-Man spin-off game based around Venom.

Internal documents that made their way online detail — essentially — a universe of Marvel games from Insomniac, with Venom potentially up next. According to internal slides, Insomniac plans to have a Venom spin-off ready for 2025.

The game, possibly titled Venom: Lethal Protector (the same name as a six-issue comic series that ran in 1993), will apparently continue the storyline of the ongoing Spider-Man games, and will also feature a playable Venom, as well as swappable “Spider-heroes” and a “Carnage-infected” New York City. Slides indicate that the game will be somewhere in the range of 8-10 hours in length.

Of course, due to the nature of the leaks and how they were acquired, it’s unclear whether or not Insomniac Games will be moving forward with its plans. The company hasn’t acknowledged the veracity of the leaks as of now, so it’s unknown what will and won’t be happening in the future.

What happened to Insomniac Games?

Earlier this week, hackers announced that they had obtained employee data as well as information about various projects (via Cyber Daily). Since then, the group has released an image of some of its collected data, including screenshots from Insomniac’s upcoming Wolverine game as well as some information that lists what the studio is working on.

As first spotted by users on Reddit, Insomniac Games is listed as working on three upcoming projects, including something called “RCE,” “Spider-Man 3,” and “Spider-???.” The images also contain text that reads that there is “additional support for Spider-Verse” being done by some employees.
