Sony Postpones Marvel’s Iron Man VR Indefinitely

COVID-19 has made it slightly more fashionable to stay inside and play video games all day. But now, the disease is starting to impact upcoming releases, including two of the year’s most highly-anticipated new games. Sony has confirmed that it’s postponing the releases of Marvel’s Iron Man VR and The Last of Us Part II. You can check out the announcement via Twitter below.

Neither game is a stranger to delays. In fact, both of them were supposed to hit the PlayStation 4 in February before getting pushed back to May. Unfortunately, Sony didn’t provide new release dates for the upcoming titles, which will likely burn gamers even more. This is especially true in the case of Last of Us fans, who have been eagerly awaiting Joel and Ellie’s return since the original game bowed in 2013.

The gaming industry has incurred some damage as a result of the current health crisis. The pandemic recently prompted the organizers behind E3 to cancel the event for the first time in its 25-year history to prevent the spread of the virus. While self-quarantining has caused console sales to surge, it’s come at a price: Nintendo and Sony have both reported difficulties in making enough Switches and PS4s to meet the public demand. It’s also unclear how the outbreak will affect Sony and Microsoft’s plans to debut new systems later this year.
