Two heavily anticipated DCU TV shows have reportedly been cancelled. The update comes despite James Gunn announcing both shows several years ago.
Back in 2023, Gunn announced a host of upcoming TV shows for DCU fans. Waller and Paradise Lost were among them. However, according to the latest reports from The Ankler, both projects have been scrapped. Although there hasn’t been any confirmation from James Gunn, it remains to be seen if The Ankler’s report is indeed true.
The cancellation of Waller and Paradise Lost leaves DC Studios with eight projects that were part of the Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters banner. Creature Commandos, Supergirl, and Superman have already been released. Swamp Thing, The Authority, Booster Gold, and The Brave and the Bold are reportedly in development.
What would have the Waller and Paradise Lost DCU TV shows been about?
Paradise Lost would have centered around Princess Diana, or Wonder Woman. The series would have delved deep into the rich history and culture of Themyscira, laying the groundwork for Wonder Woman’s origins. Per Collider, Kira Snyder and Janet Lin were both associated with the Paradise Lost project as of June 2026. As per the Waller show, it was supposed to be based on Amanda Waller, and Viola Davis was expected to reprise her role.
Despite the two shows’ cancellation reports, DCU has some big releases coming up. One of the most-awaited shows, Lanterns, is set to be released on August 16, 2026, on HBO Max. The series will see Kyle Chandler and Aaron Pierre take on the mantles of Hal Jordan and John Stewart. Coming up next will be the big-screen release, Clayface. Directed by James Watkins, the movie stars Tom Rhys Harries as the titular lead and will hit theaters on October 23, 2026. Finally, the sequel to Superman, Man of Tomorrow, starring David Corenswet, is expected to drop in July 2027.
