Creature Commandos: The Witcher’s Anya Chalotra Is Officially Joining the DCU

The Witcher’s Anya Chalotra has officially been cast as Circe in the upcoming Creature Commandos series.

On Threads, per Collider, James Gunn was asked if it was true that Chalotra, who stars as Yennefer of Vengerberg in Netflix’s The Witcher, was playing Circe in the animated Creature Commandos series, which debuts later this year.

“Yes,” Gunn answered. “And there are other cool characters in the show played by other cool actors. But all of the series regulars were announced.”

It was previously rumored that Chalotra would be joining Creature Commandos, as the Twitter account @bestofanyac shared a screenshot of her CV on Spotlight, which listed the DCU series, in November 2023.

Created by Robert Kanigher and Harry G. Petter, Circe first appeared in 1949’s Wonder Woman #37. A sorceress who originally debuted as a Wonder Woman villain, Circe has also served as an antagonist to Superman, Supergirl, and a number of other DC heroes.

Who else is in Creature Commandos?

With the series having been written by Gunn, Creature Commandos’ voice cast also includes Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Maria Bakalova as Princess Ilana Rostovic, Indira Varma as the Bride of Frankenstein, Zoë Chao as Nina Mazursky, Alan Tudyk as Doctor Phosphorus, David Harbour as Eric Frankenstein, Sean Gunn as G.I. Robot and Weasel, Steve Agee as John Economos, and Viola Davis as Amanda Waller.

Creature Commandos will be the first official project in Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU. Following that, Gunn is directing a new Superman: Legacy movie starring David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan that will be released in United States theaters on July 11, 2025.

Creature Commandos does not yet have an official release date; however, Gunn has previously confirmed that it will debut on Max in late 2024 as part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
