The Mandalorian’s Katee Sackhoff Says She Isn’t Replacing Pedro Pascal as the Show’s Lead

Katee Sackhoff says she’s not replacing Pedro Pascal as the lead in Disney+’s The Mandalorian.

Speaking with The Direct, Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze on The Mandalorian, cleared up rumors that her character would be replacing Pedro Pascal’s Din Djarin as the lead protagonist in future seasons of the Disney+ series.

“I think there’s always going to be a lot of speculation in this fandom,” Sackhoff said. “You know, I think it’s one of the reasons why people love this fandom so much. And they love this universe so much that a lot of times it allows just enough ambiguity for people to interpret things the way that they want to interpret them. And out of that there is the ability to have a lot of misinformation get out, or just, you know, wishful thinking.”

She continued, “And I think in this situation, I think that the story of the Mandalorians and the story of Bo-Katan needed to be told, I don’t believe in any way that it was taking away from Din [Djarin’s] story, nor was that ever the intention. And you know, Pedro and I aren’t in charge of who gets to lead the show [laughs]. This is Din Djarin’s show, it will always be Din Djarin’s show.”

Another season of The Mandalorian is in the works

Having originally premiered in 2019, the third season of The Mandalorian debuted in March 2023. A fourth season is currently in development, while Dave Filoni is also working on a movie that will serve as a “climatic story event” for The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Ahsoka, and other Star Wars titles.

Along with Pascal and Sackhoff, The Mandalorian stars Carl Weathers as Greef Karga, Omid Abtahi as Penn Pershing, Taika Waititi as the voice of IG-11, Giancarlo Esposito as Moff Gideon, Emily Swallow as The Armorer, and Amy Sedaris as Peli Motto.

The Mandalorian is currently streaming on Disney+.
