Patrick Stewart on Reuniting With the TNG Cast In Picard Season 3

Earlier this month, Paramount+ revealed that the cast of Star Trek: The Next Generation will reunite with Patrick Stewart in Star Trek: Picard season 3. And since the third and final season began shooting shortly after season 2, Stewart has already shared the screen with his old cast members. When speaking with Deadline, Stewart indicated that he and his friends were having fun together again. But as Stewart himself points out, he wasn’t always a fan of having fun on the set. TNG cast.

“I’m with Gates [McFadden] and Marina [Sirtis] and Jonathan [Frakes] and Brent [Spiner] and LeVar [Burton] and Michael [Dorn], and those days have been wonderful,” said Stewart. “I think it’s hard for the directors because we fool about so much! And it was always like that – I mean, you’ve probably heard that famous thing that I said it during our first season when somebody said, ‘Patrick, we’ve got to have some fun,’ because I was complaining about the disruptions and the noise, and I said ‘We are not here to have fun!’”

Stewart also spoke about how personally rewarding it was to be involved with Picard’s creative team. Additionally, he seemed to indicate that Picard’s personal journey of self-discovery will continue in season 3.

“Picard had to face a reality about his childhood and his home life and his parents that he had never ever faced before. Why? Because he was afraid, and an afraid Jean-Luc is a pretty rare creature,” noted Stewart. “But to have that undercurrent of unexpected emotion running through season 2, and coming to a climax of course in season 3, was very satisfying.”

Star Trek: Picard season 2 is currently streaming weekly on Paramount+. The third season will likely premiere next year.
