WandaVision’s Kat Dennings Teases Unseen Side to Darcy Lewis

The latest episode of WandaVision turned the story fans seemed to know upside down, as we discovered Wanda’s mental instability. The installment also featured the return in the Marvel Cinematic Universe of Dr. Darcy Lewis, portrayed by Kat Dennings. In the story, Darcy and Randal Park’s Jimmy Woo attempted to contact Wanda via radio, but it was to no avail. However, fans discovered that Darcy is no more a mere political science major at Culver University now, but a well-respected Ph.D. in astrophysics.

“I’m so grateful to the writers for giving her this rich backstory because the last time we saw her, she was Jane Foster’s intern, and the joke was that she’s a political science major and not a science major,” Dennings said while talking with TVLine. “It’s really fun to see that [the] influence Jane Foster had on her results in her actually becoming an astrophysicist… She’s the same girl, but now she has a bunch of degrees and a bunch of information. She’s a boss now.”

The actress added that the remaining episodes would explore a never-before-seen side of the young astrophysicist. The statement comes a few days after Dennings stated that the producers kept Darcy’s classic personality intact.

“I will say that you definitely see things from Darcy that have not been seen before,” she said before adding there is more in the dynamic between Darcy and Jimmy Woo: “For me, there’s nothing more fun than watching two characters that you don’t expect together, put together.”

The first four episodes of WandaVision are already available on Disney+. The fifth episode will premiere on Feb. 5.
