Bad Boys For Life, Walking Dead Directors Join Disney+’s Ms. Marvel Series

This week has already graced us with two major announcements related to Marvel Studios’ upcoming She-Hulk series. Now, Marvel is making strides in getting another one of its small-screen projects off the ground. The Hollywood Reporter brings word that the studio has filled out its directing team for Ms. Marvel.

Leading the pack is Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who achieved big success earlier this year with Sony’s Bad Boys For Life. The duo were also recently tapped to direct Bevery Hills Cop 4 for Netflix. Other episodes of Ms. Marvel will be helmed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, a two-time Academy Award winner for Best Documentary Short. Obaid-Chinoy became the first Pakistan-born filmmaker to win an Oscar in 2012 for Saving Face. She took home the golden statue again in 2016 for A Girl in the River: The Price of Forgiveness.

Marvel has also recruited Meera Menon to join Ms. Marvel’s directing team. Menon previously worked with Marvel Television on an episode of The Punisher’s second season. Additionally, she has helmed episodes of The Walking Dead, Fear the Walking Dead, Titans, and The Magicians. Menon also made her feature directorial debut in 2013 with Farah Goes Bang.

Writer Bisha K. Ali is spearheading Ms. Marvel for Disney+. The series will mark Kamala Khan’s first appearance in live action. Earlier this month, she was featured as a central character in Marvel’s Avengers. As with She-Hulk, Kamala is also expected to cross over to the big screen in future Marvel Studios films.

Disney+ has yet to announce a release date for Ms. Marvel.
