Rosario Dawson Will Play Ahsoka Tano In The Mandalorian Season 2

The Mandalorian was one of the few high profile Disney+ shows to wrap its second season before the novel coronavirus shut down Hollywood. Now, a new report claims that a fan favorite heroine is about to join the series. SlashFilm is reporting that Rosario Dawson has been cast as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian season 2. Neither Lucasfilm nor Disney+ has confirmed this rumor at press time. UPDATE: Variety has just confirmed the news!

Ahsoka Tano was introduced as Anakin Skywalker’s Padawan in Star Wars: The Clone Wars. She also had a prominent role in Star Wars Rebels, where she confronted her former master after he became Darth Vader. Ashley Eckstein reprised her role as Ahsoka for a vocal cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. If the report is accurate, it will mark Ahsoka’s live-action debut in the Star Wars universe.

Dawson has previously campaigned for the role and spoken about her desire to play Ahsoka on social media. She also has a lot of genre credits to her name, including starring as the voice of Wonder Woman in the DC Animated DTV films. Additionally, Dawson voiced Batgirl in The LEGO Batman Movie and played Clare Temple in Netflix’s Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, and The Defenders.

The final episode of Star Wars Rebels established that Ahsoka lived beyond the events of Return of the Jedi. However, it remains to be seen how Ahsoka will cross paths with the Mandalorian and Baby Yoda/The Child.

The Mandalorian’s second season will premiere on Disney+ in October.
