After adding several cast members to The Nevers last month, director Joss Whedon has continued to expand the roster from his HBO series. Via The Hollywood Reporter, Whedon has lined up six more performers for the cast.
First up is Kiran Sonia Sawar (pictured above), who will play Harrier Saur. Sheâs a Scottish Sikh who âlives with the Orphans, but is accepted by both her family and her betrothed. Optimistic without being naĂŻve, Harriet is determined to live her life as she planned, despite its increasing weirdness.â
Elizabeth Berrington has been cast as Lucy Best. Her character is described as âdirt poor, adaptive, streetwise. Thereâs nothing delicate about Lucy, though sheâs given up thieving to live with the Orphans. Her quick-wit and high spirits mask the pain of a tragic past.â
Also joining the cast is Ella Smith as Desiree Blodgett. Sheâs âa whore, and an increasingly popular one: her power makes men tell her everything on their minds, and they come away relieved in more than one sense. Unfortunately, what sheâs heard may get her killed, even though she honestly doesnât listen to most of it. Sheâs devoted to her six year old son, who, bless him, never speaks.â

Viola Prettejohn is playing Myrtle Haplis. Sheâs âa middle-class girl rescued from a family who cannot understand her â literally, as she can no longer speak English, or anything resembling speech. Sheâs thrilled to be living at the orphanage, where sheâs everyoneâs favorite weird little mascot.â
Anna Devlin will portray Primrose Chattoway. âAll 16-year-old Primrose wants is to be a proper, ordinary girl, and not take up too much space. Which, at ten feet tall, is hard. Most everything is either dreamy, unfair, or too embarrassing to live through.â
And finally, Martyn Ford will play Nicolas Perbal, a henchman with the nickname of Odium. âHe looks as unpleasant as he smells â a side-effect if his rather surprising âturn.â Will do any kind of work for anybodyâs money.â
Based on HBOâs description, the series is âan epic science-fiction drama about a gang of Victorian women who find themselves with unusual abilities, relentless enemies and a mission that might change the world.â It marks Whedonâs return to television for the first time since developing ABCâs Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. back in 2013.
The Nevers doesnât currently have a release date, but more details should be available soon.
