The Mandalorian is Coming to the D23 Expo Next Month
With Disney+ launching on November 12, Star Wars fans are wondering when Disney will finally release a trailer for The Mandalorian. But it looks like this year’s D23 attendees will be treated to another early look at the series before everyone else. StarWars.com has announced that the annual expo will host a sneak preview of the show on August 23.
The Mandalorian previously made a big splash at Star Wars Celebration back in April. Lucasfilm showcased the first footage from the series and also debuted a handful of character photos. The show’s panel at D23 will presumably unveil new scenes, but whether a proper trailer will make its way online soon after is still a mystery. Jon Favreau and executive producer Dave Filoni will appear onstage to talk about their work on the series. The announcement also promises that more “special guests” will be in attendance. This probably means that cast members like Pedro Pascal or Gina Carano will join the panel as well.
Additionally, the expo will introduce the Lucasfilm Pavilion, which houses an exhibit that traces the evolution of stormtrooper uniforms. One of the designs on display will be the Sith Trooper outfit that makes its onscreen debut in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
Lucasfilm’s presence at D23 might also give them the chance to discuss their other upcoming Star Wars series, Cassian Andor. Diego Luna and Alan Tudyk will reprise their Rogue One characters for that show. Now, Discussing Film is reporting that Rick Famuyiwa is in talks to direct a few episodes of that series. Famuyiwa also helmed two episodes of The Mandalorian, so his involvement with Cassian Andor isn’t outside the realm of possibility.
