Syfy is Planning a Lobo Spinoff Series

Krypton’s second season premieres tonight on SYFY, and it’s bringing a few fan-favorite DC characters into the mix. Both Lobo and Doomsday will make recurring appearances in the new episodes of the Superman prequel series. However, it sounds like only one of them has a long-term future at the network. Deadline reports that SYFY has begun developing a Lobo spinoff.

The spinoff series will presumably feature Emmett J. Scanlan reprising his role from Krypton. Scanlan is the first actor to officially play the Czarnian bounty hunter in live-action. Unlike actors who have voiced Lobo in animation, like Brad Garrett and John DiMaggio, Scanlan portrays him using his native Irish accent. Lobo’s presence will leave an impact on Seg-El and others throughout Krypton‘s new season.

In DC’s comic book universe, Lobo was blackmailed into joining the L.E.G.I.O.N., a modern day incarnation of the Legion of Super-Heroes. That could be a useful set up for the Lobo TV series because it forced “the Main Man” to act heroically against his nature.  More recently, Lobo joined a Justice League team led by Batman.

Krypton writer and executive producer Cameron Welsh will also maintain the same duties on Lobo. No other cast or crew information was provided.
