Netflix Renews Love, Death + Robots for Season 2

Love, Death + Robots, Netflix’s science-fiction animated anthology series, will live to see another day. Deadline is reporting that Netflix has renewed the show for a second season.

Netflix premiered Love, Death + Robots in March with 18 animated shorts ranging from six to 17 minutes in length. The series utilizes a variety of animation styles, including photorealistic CGI, rotoscoping, and anime. A big part of the show’s appeal was that it specifically catered to adult tastes and refused to hold back on depictions of sex and violence. Deadpool and Terminator: Dark Fate director Tim Miller created the series and executive produced it alongside David Fincher.

As its title implies, the show boasts a handful of robot-centric stories (including the hilarious “Three Robots,” pictured above). However, it also featured stories about vampires, space travel, werewolves, and sentient yogurt.

The second season will also welcome Kung-Fu Panda‘s Jennifer Yuh Nelson as its new supervising director. Back in the late ‘90s, Nelson also directed four episodes of HBO’s Spawn animated series. Nelson made her live-action directorial debut last year when she helmed The Darkest Minds for 20th Century Fox. You can check out Netflix’s announcement of Nelson’s involvement via Twitter below.
