Not much is known for certain about The Walking Dead’s upcoming season. The only confirmed bit of information is that it will feature the departure of Danai Gurira’s Michonne. How this will affect the fates of her children, Judith and R.J., remains to be seen. Lauren Cohan is also rumored to return as Maggie after sitting out the back half of season 9. Showrunner Angela Kang revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly that season 10 picks up after winter has passed. Presumably, the remaining survivors will continue to have interactions with the Whisperers, who memorably decapitated 10 cast members of varying significance in season 9’s penultimate episode.

Reedus’ picture also suggests that Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol will have more screen time together this year. Daryl spent most of season 9 on his own while refusing to align himself with any of the three main communities. But following the Whisperers’ latest act, it’s likely he’ll resume his leadership role when the new season premieres this fall.
